Celtic set sights on in-form Sunderland striker

Celtic have joined the race to sign Sunderland striker Josh Maja, as per a report by Chronicle Live.

The 20-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and is attracting plenty of interest.

There is believed to be Bundesliga sides keen on a move for him but Scottish Premier League Celtic are looking to battle it out to land him.

Maja has been in prolific form for Sunderland in League One this season and has scored 15 goals in 28 appearances in all competitions.

Celtic are looking are long-term options and see Maja as an ideal signing to help retain their dominance in Scotland.

Maja started out as a youngster for Crystal Palace and Fulham as well as spending time with Manchester City before joining Sunderland in 2015.

He signed his first professional contract for the Black Cats in May 2016, a three-year deal, and made his first-team debut for them in September 2016 in an EFL Cup game against QPR.

Maja made his league debut for Sunderland last season and came off the bench to score again Fulham. That was his only goal of the last campaign but he has established himself as a key player for the North-East side this season and has adapted well to the third tier.

He looks to have a very bright future ahead of him in the game. Can Celtic persuade him to make the move north to Scotland?
