Celtic willing to do swap deal to land Sunderland striker

Celtic are willing to include a player as part of their pursuit of in-form Sunderland striker Josh Maja, according to the Shields Gazette.

The Glasgow may use winger Lewis Morgan or defender Jack Hendry as part of a deal to lure Maja to the Scottish Premiership. Sunderland have been linked with both players in the past.

Maja has been in prolific form for Sunderland in League One this season and has scored 15 goals in 28 appearances in all competitions.

There is believed to be Bundesliga sides keen on a move for him but the Scottish champions Celtic are looking to battle it out to land him.

The Hoops are looking at long-term options and see Maja as an ideal signing to help retain their dominance in Scotland.

Maja made his league debut for Sunderland last season and came off the bench to score again Fulham. That was his only goal of the last campaign but he has established himself as a key player for the North-East side this season and has adapted well to the third tier.

He looks to have a very bright future ahead of him in the game. Can Celtic persuade him to make the move north to Scotland?

The prospect of Sunderland getting Morgan or Hendry as part of the deal would soften the blow of losing Maja. Both are down the pecking order at Celtic Park and could do with going out on loan for more first-team action and to prove Brendan Rodgers what they can do.
