Six Changes as Town Face Coventry in FA Cup
Sunday, 1st Dec 2019 13:19

Town boss Paul Lambert makes six changes from the team which drew 0-0 with Wycombe on Tuesday for this afternoon’s FA Cup second-round tie against Coventry City at St Andrew’s.

The Blues look set to return to the 4-3-3 system they employed against Lincoln City in the first-round replay victory with Will Norris back in goal.

In defence, James Wilson partners Luke Woolfenden in the centre with Janoi Donacien at right-back and Luke Garbutt on the left.

In midfield Andre Dozzell and Flynn Downes, who skippers for the first time, play behind Jon Nolan with Will Keane the lone central striker, while Danny Rowe is on the left and Alan Judge on the right.

Strike pair Kayden Jackson and James Norwood are among those on a very strong Blues bench.

Coventry make two changes from the team which drew 1-1 at Sunderland with Sam McCallum and Max Biamou returning to their side with Amadou Bakayoko and Brandon Mason dropping to the bench.

Coventry: Marosi, Dabo, Hyam, McFadzean, Rose, McCallum, Kelly, Walsh, Shipley, Westbrooke, Biamou. Subs: Wilson, Watson, Mason, Kastaneer, O’Hare, Bakayoko, Hiwula.

Town: Norris, Donacien, Woolfenden, Wilson, Garbutt, Downes, Dozzell, Nolan, Rowe, Judge, Keane. Subs: Holy, Edwards, Jackson, Norwood, Kenlock, Georgiou, Huws. Referee: Anthony Backhouse (Cumbria).

Concerned (as per usual) by the one up top but thats a strong enough team to have a chance of the win. Hoping Dozzell starts to show the form that he did at the beginning of his career. Come on Keane, pull your finger out and notch a couple today.

Come on Ipswich!

Bit a stronger starting 11 that started both matches against Lincoln so fingers crossed and hopefully Keane gets a bit more match fit with this tie as so far has looked well off the pace. COYB!

One up front as usual. We will need a real goalscorer in January .

Pleasantly surprised by what a strong looking team that is (on paper, at least!). Let's hope the players deliver. PL clearly keen for Town to be in that third round draw and to get a win to regain momentum and confidence. COYB!

I know I'm alone, but I really rate Keane and although his scoring record has been pretty average, I've worked out from past games and teamsheets for various clubs, when playing in a 2 he has a return of 1 goal in 3 games which isn't as bad. Wish he's get a chance to partner Jackson

Can't remember Dozzell playing well at start of career unless you mean youth team. Needs to start producing times running out can't wear the potential tag for ever.
